Hakka Floral Fabric

Hakka floral fabric, a kind of traditional cloth in Taiwan, is a bright red cloth with big patterns of peony flowers on it. The bright red colour and the peony flowers mean happiness and wealth. In the past, many people in Taiwan used it to make curtains, pillows, quilts, scarves and so on. Hakka floral fabric was very common in Taiwan.

About the origin of Hakka floral fabric, some say Hakka people in the past were so poor that they would make good use of   the leftover cloth and sew each piece together. That became the colorful cloth which we call Hakka floral fabric today!!
